Both Sides
Everyday we witness how things make attempts to keep in Balance. It's obvious in weather patterns or using leverage to push a door open. The same is true with cultivating virtues and the potential rise of the opposing vice. With confidence we must keep an eye on arrogance, as we work on courage, bullying may be on the rise. As a Capricorn (not too into the Zodiac but.....) steadiness and stability are hallmark qualities that I most certainly have and seem to be a part of my presentation. The other face of stability and steadiness is stubbornness. If you know me you know I'm all of these things (and more for sure). Sometimes I wear my stubbornness as a badge of honor and sometimes it's a helpful quality to possess. As I attempt to learn a second language at times it seems to be stubbornness that gets me through a lesson more so than perseverance.
There's no doubt that the vices that are so easily welcomed into our character must be checked. Make yourself aware of them but maybe we should not denounce them outright but instead look for the usefulness of them. Should we ask ourselves if the cultivation of a virtue naturally brings about the potential rise of it's opposing vice. This does not mean we give up on the practice of virtues but instead, stubbornly pursue them with the knowledge that vice is lurking and needs to be moderated.
